Derby Brewing Company acquires second pub
25 January 2010
Acting on behalf of a private client, Christie + Co has sold the
freehold interest of the Greyhound pub in Derby, to the Derby
Brewing Company, the award-winning microbrewer, for an undisclosed
sum.
Situated on Friar Gate in Derby, the Grade II-Listed, two-storey
property comprises two bar areas on the ground floor and a
three-bedroom owner's accommodation on the first floor. The
property also benefits from a beer garden to the rear.
Founded in 2004, the Derby Brewing Company is operated by father
and son team, Trevor and Paul Harris. The company acquired its
first pub in the city, The Royal Standard, through Christie + Co in
2007. The business re-opened the following May as the Brewery Tap,
after a full renovation.
The company, which has won a number of awards for its beers,
plans to draw on its experience and successful renovation of The
Brewery Tap to fully renovate the Greyhound, and expects to re-open
the pub this spring.
Ben Freckingham, Associate Director at Christie + Co, said:
“We are delighted to have helped this popular local brewery
acquire its second pub and expect it to repeat the success of the
Brewery Tap once it opens later this year.”
