Christie + Co fuels Blubeckers’ expansion
05 November 2007
Blubeckers, the pub restaurant division of The Restaurant Group,
has recently acquired the Refectory public house in Milford near
Godalming, Surrey, through Christie + Co.
This former Chef and Brewer branded, managed house was part of
the portfolio of 637 former Spirit pubs which were transferred from
Punch Tavern’s managed division to its leased estate by
Christie + Co in 2006.
Blubeckers is renowned for its good quality food offering in
relaxed, character-driven, public house surroundings. The company
first opened in Shepperton in 1977 and was acquired by The
Restaurant Group from CI Traders in June 2005. The group has since
grown to offer over 20 pub restaurant businesses throughout the
Home Counties.
This transaction follows Blubeckers’ acquisition of the
Duke of York public house in Barnet, which was sold to the group by
Christie + Co as part of a marketing campaign on behalf Herald Inns
& Bars.
Christie + Co Director of Corporate Pubs, Neil Morgan, comments:
“Both pubs are located in affluent trading areas. The Duke of
York has already undergone an extensive refurbishment program and
the Refectory is due to be refurbished shortly.
“As Blubeckers progresses with its ambitious expansion
plans, its thirst for food-led public house premises continues
unabated. We are confident that these new additions will fit in
well with the rest of the group, offering a quality dining
experience in a family environment. We continue to work with
Blubeckers to identify further acquisition opportunities as they
roll out this high quality brand.”
