Dawnay Shore acquires Furlong Hotels through Christie + Co
13 December 2005
Christie + Co’s corporate hotels team has recently negotiated
the sale of Furlong Hotels. The Furlong Hotel Group, which includes
some of the finest country house hotels in the UK, has been
acquired by Dawnay Shore Hotels for £41 million.
Furlong’s collection of classic country houses includes
the world-famous 70-bedroom Lygon Arms, which is set in the
picturesque Cotswold village of Broadway, Worcestershire. The
company’s other hotels are the 71-bedroom Billesley Manor
— a classic Elizabethan house in Warwickshire, and the
40-bedroom Combe Grove Manor — a Georgian Mansion in a
woodland setting near Bath.
Christie + Co’s corporate hotels team was responsible for
successfully negotiating the deal on Furlong Hotels’ behalf.
“We have previously provided Furlong Hotels with valuation
advice,” explains Christie + Co Director Jeremy Jones.
“We’re obviously very familiar with the Furlong
portfolio and we were delighted to negotiate a successful sale on
the company’s behalf.”
Dawnay Shore Hotels Plc was established in July 2004 by Dawnay,
Day and Shore Capital, to build a chain of four-star hotels in the
UK. The company initially acquired Paramount Hotels from Alchemy
Partners in July 2004 and has since acquired a number of additional
properties.
