Press Release
Former Bar Risa/Jongleurs in Oxford leased to Cavendish Bars
2 March 2010
Acting jointly on behalf of Christ Church College, Oxford, and Administrators from BDO LLP, Christie + Co and Savills have re-let the former Bar Risa/Jongleurs in Oxford, to Cavendish Bars, the late night bars and venues operator, for an undisclosed sum.
Located close to the city centre, the c.7,000sq ft building is split over two floors and features a significant external decking area fronting Hythe Bridge Street.
Cavendish Bars, which was formed by entrepreneur Christian Arden in April 2008, plans to re open the venue as a “Wahoo” sports bar to complement similar operations in Putney and Southampton.
In addition the first floor is to reopen as a comedy club under a separate agreement between Cavendish and the Glee Club, which operates comedy clubs in Birmingham and Cardiff.
Christie + Co is currently acting on behalf of Administrator BDO LLP regarding the leasehold interests of a number of ex-Regent Inns sites, which are spread across England, including those in Islington and Bow Wharf in London.
In June last year, Christie + Co sold a package of seven Walkabout-branded sites to Cavendish Bars, for an undisclosed sum, on behalf of what was then Regent Inns.
Anthony Jenkins, Associate Director at Christie + Co, said: “This is a landmark site in this historic city and one which should prove ideal for both Wahoo and Glee – we are delighted to have been able to find a suitable tenant within such a short timescale.”
