Chelmsford Star Co-op acquires second Essex c-store in a month

1 March 2010

Acting on behalf of Parveen Quadeer, Christie + Co, has sold leasehold interest of the Sooper Save convenience store in South Ockendon, Essex, to the Chelmsford Star division of the Co-operative Society Ltd.

With a sales area of 1,500 sq ft and located just outside the M25, this successful store attracted strong interest. After just five weeks of marketing, negotiations started with the Chelmsford Star Cooperative Society.

The store was sold for an undisclosed sum, off an asking price of £189,000.

Chelmsford Star, which acquired the Spar store in Tilbury through Christie + Co in early February, plans to re-brand the unit with its new corporate signage.

Christie + Co’s Mark Page, who handled the sale, commented: “Our client, Parveen Quadeer, had been working at the store for a number of years and was ready for a change of career. She is now venturing into the fast food industry, closer to her family in London. We wish her all the best in her new business.”
