Press Release
Christie + Co sells Harrogate nursing home to Maria Mallaband Care Group
2 July 2009
Acting on behalf of Rob and Angie Jackson, Christie + Co has sold the Ashfield Court Nursing Home in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, to the Maria Mallaband Care Group, one of the UK’s leading care home providers, for an undisclosed sum.
Situated adjacent to the Stray, around 200 acres of open parkland in the centre of Harrogate, Ashfield Court is a beautiful Victorian building, which has been extensively refurbished to cater for all aspects of nursing care, whilst retaining its original character and features.
The property, which features a purpose-built residential wing, can accommodate up to 45 people. Run under the personal supervision of Mrs Jackson, the business has been established as one of the finest care homes in the Yorkshire region, and was awarded a three star top rating from the Care Quality Commission.
Established in 1996, the Maria Mallaband Care Group currently operates 56 care homes throughout the UK and Channel Islands.
Phil Burgan, Chairman of Maria Mallaband Care Group Ltd, said: “It was a pleasure to deal with Angie and her husband, Rob. We wish them every success in the future. Christie + Co also deserve special mention for its part in expediting the deal.”
The deal was handled at Christie + Co by Directors Guy Bosanko and Jonathan Wickens.
Guy Bosanko said: “In our initial conversations with Angie, it was apparent that the most fundamental concern to her was that the superb reputation that she has developed for Ashfield Court over many years be maintained. Consequently, and as a result of Christie + Co being aware of the high quality care homes and the shared standards of care offered by Maria Mallaband Care Homes, Ashfield Court was a perfect fit. The sale does, of course, illustrate that despite the challenges of the current economic climate, quality homes in quality locations will always attract interest.”
Simon Morris, Partner at Raworths LLP solicitors, acted for Mr and Mrs Jackson.
